Festive Party Ideas

Festive celebrations are one of life's treasures. Family and friends, lots of food and drink, music and dancing. Planning a festive party can be easy and satisfying if you plan it out ahead. Whether the event is a small birthday party or a family reunion, if you make a plan and stick to your plan everybody will have a great time and you will be the toast of the party.

  1. Start with a Theme or Style!
    • Mexican Fiesta
    • Hawaiian Luau
    • Costume Party - can even theme here!
    • Backyard Bar B Que
  2. Choose your colors.
    • Bright reds and golds will spice up a Mexican themed meal or BBQ.
    • Oranges and browns entice the appetite and set the stage for shell fish
    • Blues are only for kids, it makes most adults lose their appetites
  3. Make sure the Lighting is right.
    • Bright, colorful lights are great here.
    • Strings of colorful twinkle lights in the plants or draped around the tables will add to the festivity.
  4. Select a Menu.
    • Bold, colorful, spicy food like Mexican Food is easily prepared ahead and always a favorite.
    • Steaks or burgers on the grill are always a hit!
    • For something different try a seafood boil or a tapas party.
    • For a truly affordable, one pot meal a "chili feed" is a great idea. Simply prepare a lot of your favorite chili and set out every topping you can imagine and let your guest dig in.
  5. Music is important.
    • Music should be upbeat and on the loud side.
  6. Flowers will complete the event.
    • Use groupings of fun flowers like Gerber Daisies or if on a budget just use very inexpensive yellow daisies.
    • Clusters of balloons and streamers are an affordable way to extend your decorating budget.
